The MetLife blimp flies over the Pacific Ocean and the "Children's Pool" in La Jolla, San Diego, California...The sea wall protecting the La Jolla "Children's Pool" was built in 1931 to create a safe area for children to swim. In the 1990's Sea World began dropping all rescued and rehabilitated harbor seals in the kelp beds off Seal Rock, near the Children's Pool. The seals were not afraid of humans and joined them on the nearby Children's Pool Beach, offering the closest look at wild harbor seals anywhere on the west coast of North America...Currently, there is a heated controversy over whether the beach should be protected as a marine sanctuary or used for recreational swimming. In 2007, a court order mandating clearing accumulated sand and shooing away the seals to allow children to swim there again was unanimously upheld by a 3 judge appeals court.
